Meet the Chin Assessment Team

The Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital is led by four consultants working inside a tertiary general hospital. Ke He, MD, is responsible for the medical review of this site. A chin decision genuinely involves the other three: the surgical view when the finding is skeletal rather than proportional, the tertiary support for a complicated or repeatedly treated lower face, and the dermatological assessment of a late lump or colour change.

Ke He

Ke He (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending · Lead Physician of This Site

Facial assessment · injectable treatment · jaw and bite screening

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital and head of its skin and laser aesthetic service — and she is the lead physician of this site. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, she has worked on the clinical front line in skin laser and injectable aesthetics for more than 20 years, serving over ten thousand patients.

Dr. He treats the chin as the endpoint of an assessment that starts somewhere else. Before anything is injected she examines the jaw line and the angle of the mandible, looks at how the teeth meet and at the wear patterns that suggest a bite problem, asks about jaw-joint symptoms and about sleep, and looks at the nose and the lips because those set what the chin is read against. Where the finding is a bite or a genuinely short mandible she refers rather than treats, and she regards a consultation that ends in a dental or maxillofacial referral as one that worked. Where the finding is proportional she places a small volume and reviews it after it has settled rather than placing the whole plan at once, because at a high-movement site over thin skin the second look is more accurate than the first prediction. She uses a dissolvable class where an operation is conceivable later, so that the option and the imaging are both preserved. She also asks how many times the patient has been treated before, because the answer changes what the chin needs now.

Clinical focus

  • Jaw line, mandibular angle and profile assessment before any injectable plan
  • Bite screening, including wear patterns, jaw-joint symptoms and sleep-related signs
  • Recognition of a skeletal deficiency that belongs to an operation rather than a needle
  • Small-volume treatment reviewed after settling rather than a full plan at once
  • Recognition and immediate management of a vascular complication in the lower face

Academic roles & achievements

  • Member, Laser Medicine Group, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Facial Rejuvenation Group, Chinese Medical Association Plastic Surgery Branch
  • Member, Chongqing Plastic Surgery Quality Control Center
  • Published 5 papers, holds 5 national patents, and introduced 2 new clinical techniques

The chin is never the only finding

A chin is judged against the jaw behind it, the bite below it and the nose and lips above it. Where the assessment stops at the chin, the plan treats the most visible structure rather than the one that is actually responsible. That is why this site begins with the jaw rather than with the needle.

Shaoliang Wang

Shaoliang Wang (王韶亮)

Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine

Plastic surgery · complex cases · revision

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team he provides the surgical perspective and the tertiary-hospital backstop — the assessment when an operation is the honest answer, and the hospital-level care for the rare complication that needs it.

On this site Dr. Wang is the second opinion for a chin that has been treated repeatedly, and for the patient whose lower face has changed in a way that needs more than another appointment.

Clinical focus

  • Center leadership and multidisciplinary case review
  • Surgical assessment when an operation is the honest answer to descent or excess skin
  • Hospital-based care for the rare complication that needs theatre-level management
Tongchun Mao

Tongchun Mao (毛彤春)

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Aesthetic surgery · facial contour and proportion

Dr. Tongchun Mao is an aesthetic surgeon within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team his role is refinement and honest referral: he is the person who says so when an operation will do better than an injectable or a device.

Where the finding is skeletal, the honest plan is an operation on the bone rather than an injectable in front of it. Dr. Mao is the surgical view on this site, and the person who explains what an operation would change that filler cannot.

Clinical focus

  • Aesthetic surgical assessment and refinement of contour and asymmetry
  • Honest referral when surgery outperforms a course of injections
  • Shared case planning within the four-physician team
Yongbo Jia

Yongbo Jia (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Dermatology · delayed reactions and skin changes

Dr. Yongbo Jia is a dermatologist within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team his role is medical skin assessment — diagnosing and managing pigment and barrier conditions, and treating skin that a device or an injection has irritated.

A lump, a colour change or a reaction appearing weeks after treatment is assessed dermatologically first at this hospital, because not every late change is a problem with the material. His part of this site is that assessment.

Clinical focus

  • Medical skin assessment behind injectable treatment plans
  • Diagnosis and management of pigment and barrier conditions
  • Dermatologic care of skin after irritation or a delayed reaction

Start with the jaw, not the needle

Arrange an assessment. We will examine the jaw line and the bite before discussing volume, explain what repeated treatment does over years, and say plainly if this is not the right treatment for you.
