Arranging an assessment

Outpatient appointments are booked through the hospital on the numbers below; international patients can ask for Michael Yu. Bring any record of previous filler treatment, including what was used and when, and any photographs of your profile from several years ago. If you have noticed jaw-joint symptoms or problems with the bite, mention them when booking so the assessment allows time for them.

What the consultation should establish

Whether the chin is proportional or genuinely short; whether the jaw line, the mandibular angle and the profile support the change being asked for; whether the teeth meet properly and whether there are signs of a bite problem; how many times the chin has been treated before and with what; and what the plan is if the result is not what you wanted. You should leave able to say which of those was found.

Asking about the plan

Ask whether a dissolvable class is being used and why. Ask how much is being placed in one visit and when the review is. Ask what the endpoint of the plan is, so that a course of treatment can be distinguished from an open maintenance habit. And ask what would make this the wrong treatment for your chin. A physician who answers that last question specifically is assessing you rather than presenting to you.

Before you commit

No decision needs to be made at the first appointment, and this is a treatment that can be staged without loss. Take the plan away, read it against the guides on this site, and come back with questions. A discount that expires, or pressure to treat at the first visit, is information about the practice rather than about your chin.
